The McLean High School Color Guard is a vital component of the Marching Band, and it continues to grow each year. Under the direction of Devon Robinson the Color Guard consists of student-athletes and performers who dance, spin, and perform with flags, rifles, and sabres to enhance the Marching Band field show. They are integral to the Marching Band in the summer and fall, and may not necessarily be members of the band music program. Participating in color guard demands athleticism, coordination, strength, artistry and a passion to perform!
At the conclusion of the fall marching season, the McLean Winter Guard program begins. Two winter guard teams (Red and Silver) train and compete in the Scholastic division of our local competition circuits. Students will audition for placement on the Red and Silver teams.
The Winter Guard participates in local competitions to gain performance competition experience and participate in the marching arts community. Participation in Winter Guard is a great way for current McLean students to continue to develop performance skills after the Marching Band season in one of the largest guard programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia!
